- Who would you say you are?
I am Aaron Fikayomi. People call me a lady with disabilities, but I see myself as a unique being, a royalty, God’s heritage, and a link to success in the life of others.
I’m a Writer, An Author and also a Freelancer. I run a campaign for the less privilege, and have a passion to see Teenagers living right, but all these define who I am. They are just a sum of what I represent.
I would say I am God’s special gift to this generation. A light that has been put out severally, but came back shining brighter.
2. Would you say you are living your purpose? What has He called you to be?
I won’t say I have started living my purpose because sometimes I feel my stiff bones due to a disease known as Heterotopic Ossification stops me from going out there to connect with teenagers and help people like I want to. But being able to do the little from my room gives me hope that I’m living my purpose to a fault.
Like Apostle Paul in the Bible, He was able to reach out to people through letters even when he was in prison. Through my writing and social media activities, I have been able to live to help others.
God has called me to share my experience to help others heal and He said He will heal many through me. I remember the anchor scripture that preceded my writing and social media activities, “Isaiah 50:4” I always run with this and when it seems I’m distracted, I’m led to go back to this and my passion is fired up again.
3. How do you deal with negative thoughts?
Negative thoughts always come. I’m sometimes worried I’ll fall and it will complicate my health. I’m worried that I might be alone or how do I break free and become financially stable and different negative thoughts pops up in my mind. What I do is eject such thoughts with the Word of God.
You know the Bible says, “we should bring every thought and imagination to the obedience of Christ” and another place said, “guide your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.” That means we can always take hold of our thoughts and make it right.
If we give room to negative thoughts, negativity will always be around us. The negative imagination would find a way to materialize. Like Proverbs put it, “as a man thinks in his heart, so he is.” So I’m always eager to caution every negative thoughts with the right ones because I have come to know that my mind is a battlefield and the level of my physical success depends on the thoughts I have towards myself and life generally.
4. Any other area of specialty, school, talent, and all?
Due to my health issue, I had to stop schooling, but I didn’t allow that to deter me. I paid for several online classes, paid course and made Google my friend. That is how I became a Writer, Author and Freelancer without any tertiary school certificates.
5. Who is your Major influencer?
The Holy Spirit. Yes, the Holy Spirit influence my passion through the Word of God and if there’s anything I do, it comes from the Holy Spirit pointing it out to me that this is not so acceptable, what would you do about it?
And since Jesus was doing good while on Earth, that means His Spirit is true and represents Christ fully. He has been my greatest influence.
Young people achieving goals and great heights influence my passion too, but I’m careful not to fall away from what God wants for my life.
6. Where is your safe place?
My safe place is the place of prayers. I feel so calm, secure and at peace right there before God.
My family is a safe place to be also, but it can’t be compared to the security and joy I have in mind when I pray to God.
7. What encouragement will you give someone out there, living with Sickle cell anemia?
To people living with sickle cell anemia, you are not your genotype and instead of living and waiting for the day of death, why not dust up yourself, get busy and surrender all to God to lead and help you.
Sickle cell anemia is not a death sentence. The pain might be much, but you can live like every other people out there. Trust God to heal you and while you’re waiting, make something out of your life and stand out with it even if it doesn’t seem to make sense.
I don’t have much to say about this condition because I really didn’t have an experience of the crisis involved like others do share. All I remember is that I rarely fall sick and when I eventually do, it always comes with excruciating pain. Due to the physical, verbal and emotional abuse I experienced as a child, it turned out that the trauma affected my tissue and that was when I had a full blown excruciating pain and it only stopped in 2016 when God took the pain away completely. It’s funny how I have a normal PCV between 29-33% and without crisis despite the deteriorating state of my body.
So, I want to advise people to treat others who are warriors specially. The stress and pain you put them through might result into something severe. Don’t add to their pain, please.
9. What is your favorite scripture?
For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, Because it will certainly come; it will not delay.

10. How do you cheer yourself up, or what makes you happy?
I have come to see happiness as the fruit of the spirit and it makes me know that I’m not held by my own strength.
I sometimes feel bad that I’m not living like my mates, my family is not financially stable like others, I can’t do what I intend to do properly and I can’t do anything except I’m being assisted, it makes me sad many times, but the Word of God brings me peace and happiness and it eventually turns to joy I can’t contain.
I bless God for the gift of men. There are some people I share my tears with and God always gives them a word for the situation for me. So I encourage everyone to pray for the right people who can hold their hands and assure them through God’s Word that all will be well and if you have someone or people like that in your space, don’t take them for granted. Don’t allow familiarity steal what you have. Cherish them and don’t die in silence when you are sad or weary.
I always remember God’s promises and it cheers me up and give me hope to smile, to love and to plan towards every goals in my heart.
