A Teacher is a Compass!
A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge and wisdom in the pupils ( Ever Garrison). As a volunteer teacher I have learnt a lot about the academic system, more so I have learnt a lot in showing the Redemptive love of Christ through the help of HRAM in teaching children.Understanding that only with the help of God can wisdom and knowledge be passed to these children. One major lesson I will say is never say never and never give up on a child. Yes, Northern Nigerian children go through a lot of heartbreak from the loss of their close relatives and loved ones due to banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, rape just to mention a few. Leaving them to suffer a lot of pain mentally, psychologically, socially and sometimes physically.
As God’s own teacher what these children need is genuine love of Christ and an understanding teacher. The founder of the foundation has equipped us with lots of ways we can identify such children and with the help of God give them hope and comfort even in teaching. One beautiful thing I see in the eyes of these children is curiosity, the desire to be free from ignorance and pain. These gives me more push to do better as a volunteer teacher. My major concern is how more Northern Nigerian children can be helped and sponsored in schools. There are many more vulnerable children out there suffering in pain and desiring to be in school. When more children are sponsored in schools, the future of Nigeria will be brighter and better.
