Away to Bujumbura
As we have come to our descent, the captain turned on the fasten seat belt sign and came to the voice from the overhead speakers.
Looking through the window is the master art creation of our Father God,
Hilly yet so green, the houses like small boxes lined on the undulating mountains like ice on the cake.
The rivers meandered through the so many valleys separating one mountain from the other.
A little turbulence here and there means any moment from now we will be on the ground. As I looked again is the vast plain covered the marshy and lush green. I try to capture some shots while allowing my mind to describe what my eyes are seeing
A small airport, just a few aircraft’s insight. Well, it is also a tiny country in the heart of Africa. This continent is indeed blessed not just with natural resources under the ground, but people of rich cultural heritage.
Bujumbura is a mixture of mountains, valleys, and plains surrounding a lake.

Aircraft Refueling
I have always thought that to refuel an Aircraft there must be tankers laden with jet fuel to be emptied into the wings of the airplane, alas that is far from it.
Why do we take things for granted? Is it a belief system that tells us that there’s nothing we can do to avert danger once it was predestined by some powerful being we ought to worship? Think again!
At the airport in Bujumbura, we stopped over for a short layover for several things among other things to refuel. Again the voice from the PA system to switch off your phones while the Refueling is in progress.
Instead of a massive tanker, I saw a small truck equipped with a pumping gear, as I watched I saw the technicians opened up a hole in the middle of the tarmac not far from the wings and the aircraft was connected with hoses via the pumping truck and in a matter of minutes refueling was completed and the hole covered up again.
Lest I forgot to tell you that while the refueling was in progress, there was a standby firefighting truck with its nuzzle facing the pumping truck, moving from side to side and ready for action. Nothing was left to chance and I would have asked don’t they believe that once danger is written it cannot be averted?
This story would have been needless, but for the country that I just came from.
