ERADICATING POVERTY THROUGH EDUCATION

Eradicating poverty should be our main focus because poverty plays a major role in the increase of crime and deaths which results from lack. Throughout the world and especially in Nigeria in recent years had to come to terms with the suffering that springs from poverty. This menace has also brought a diminish in education, as children from poor families and communities can hardly eat, how could they school or provide for all that is necessary for school?

Children and young women raised in poverty tend to miss school more often because of illness. They also have a much higher rate of accidents than do other children, and they are twice as likely to have impaired vision and hearing, iron deficiency anemia, and higher than normal levels of lead in the blood, which can impair brain function. More likely to be victims of sexual based violence or domestic violence.

Girls are denied an education for being girls; some of them are forced into early marriages with their dreams of getting an education halted, some are raped, tricked into getting pregnant and so disowned or abandoned to the mercy of the streets, although with willing parents but being poverty-stricken, makes it almost impossible to attend school at an early age, such children and young women have to prioritize and given an opportunity to flourish by giving them access to education through sponsorship.

According to UNESCO, if all students in low-income countries had just basic reading and writing skills (nothing else), an estimated 171 million people could escape extreme poverty. If all adults completed secondary education, we could cut the global poverty rate by more than half. Education develops skills and abilities, corrects some of the imbalances that come out of marginalization, and decreases both risk and vulnerability. 

Some of the key areas, that Hasken Rayuwa Foundation Afrika will focus on to make sure that education eradicates poverty is by providing the necessary resources needed for a child to go to school and complete it. Children of different ages need all the help from, the provision of school fees, providing reading and writing material, lunch, uniform, school bags, shoes, and an extra after-school tutorship where needed.
