Sweet Forgiveness
Oh, sweet forgiveness, a balm that heals all pain,
Thou art the grace that doth our souls renew,
When anger’s fire hath scorched our hearts in vain,
Thou art the calm that doth our spirits soothe.
Like gentle rain upon a parched land,
Thou dost refresh and bring new life to all,
And lead us with a soft and gentle hand,
To rise above the hurt and heed the call.
For when we suffer wrongs or bitter strife,
‘Tis easy to succumb to vengeful ways,
But thou dost teach us how to heal and thrive,
And turn our hearts to brighter, kinder days.
So let us seek forgiveness, as we should,
And find in it the way to do much good.
