Who Did This to Us Zuru?

Who did this to us? Before expounding on that question, let me introduce you to this place called, Zuru. It is a Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Zuru. It is also the Headquarters of the Zuru Emirate. The Emirate comprises four local government areas, namely: Danko Wasagu, Fakai, Sakaba, and Zuru. A land diverse in culture and rich heritage. Known for their hospitality and strength. A people who embraced the freedom that comes with education. These people have seen their share of the effects of terrorism, political maltreatment, and banditry that is eating fast into our peaceful coexistence as a united Nigeria. Zuru land had produced countless circular and religious literature that is learned but it is still a surprise the backwardness in education, spirituality, and other general developments. The moral decadence oh! my God.

Indeed, there were days I cherished, the thoughts of moments and memories created to make me nostalgic. The freedom to go out with Mum and Dad on prayer picnics on the mountains, the pleasure I derive in personal walks on the hills of Zuru. Stopping a bike on an impulse, telling him “just keep going” as I daydream about God, purpose, and love. Oh! Those simple days I will always cherish. But how safe are the hills for our children now? Unfortunately, rape and daylight robbery has become prevalent?

I am very concerned about our religious activities without power. A religious setting that does not change its ministers will not bring change in a community. The effects of corruption in the church by individuals who have called themselves continue to taut the growth of Zuru and its people. I speak about the church because I am a Christian. When religious leaders refuse to work with God towards fulfilling His purpose for the Zuru people, then who are they working with. We have God who operates in righteousness, Goodness, prosperity, and perfection. The devil on the other hand works to kill, destroy and promote perpetual darkness putting people in bondage. Where do you stand, who is your employer? No wonder you cannot discern who to choose as your political representative at all levels.

This conniving with the enemy to bring an end to a righteous living, the pride in labor, and uprightness most end now the consequences are deadly. Who told you, you can play God? Yes, I am starting with you, the incredible way you betray each other is nothing but satan worship, I wonder who has done this to us?

Children committing suicide and it is of no bother to you? When they are all gone where will you find “future” Children miss informed about life, relationship and wealth. It is indeed alarming that we watch while children wallow in depression and anxiety. Things have to change, your perspective has to change. The demon called suicide is not an impossibility, it has taken its seat in Zuru, and I think because leaders are busy with the work of the “Cankerworm”.

The land is known for its peculiar people, hard workers, but of recent both women and men have flooded the streets begging, no not because of banditry, I am talking about those who switch religions at will, only for what they can eat. Is the answer only in prostitution, backstabbing, and irresponsibility? No wonder things are bad! Without a thought, you choose darkness over light, hate over love. Who did this to you?

When do we embrace change, righteousness, and good development? We have been unfairly treated in the political scene but is it not until we stand for and together that we can prevail over the enemy? To do well and make influence you have to be a person of impeccable character. As the Bible says confess your faults to one another, so you can be truly healed and restored. Let me not assume we all respect the Words from the scriptures, that we leave by and depend on it. No, I won’t because if we did, we will know who did this to us. So what exactly do we want for our people?

Let go of that inhouse tribalistic terrorism, why will a Pani man consider a Dabai man an enemy? Who did this to you? This is how we started going wrong?

The youths have become what you practice, you say “Yaran Zamani” children don’t know corruption, lawlessness, and wickedness until taught. They see you leave double lives but you want them to do what you say? No! make all the declarations you like, but if you refuse to forsake the wicked path, no change will come. No improvement will happen.

If you ask me we are doing evil to us! What folly indeed. God News! God always wins, be mindful of who you decide to work with. Choose your employer wisely. His purpose will be done, not even you can stop it. He will do His will in the life of our children, you choose to be part of it or not. For the reason that God remains God, I have hope for our future and God will bring back order in Zuru.

The announcing of harvest comes with a sweet smell. Productive lands and speaking hills. The loving sun and the gracious moon, every storm turns to victory, so shall it be for my Zuru.
